is unclear that this art work was done with an air brush,
most likely not but upon studying several other photos we
decided to paint by brush in its traditional form.

a lot of info at this time except that the original panel
is on display at the American Airpower Heritage Museum in
Midland ,TX. This Vargas girl appeared on several a/c during
the war.

much info on this a/c other than the group primarily conducted
night missions in search of enemy submarines and shipping,
hence the black paint. This artwork was widely used on many
planes throughout the war and is an accurate depiction of
an Alberto Varga illustration.

This
aircraft belonged to the commander of VPB-111 in late 1944
whilst Lt. Cdr. J.V. Barry was the 'PPC'. The PBY4-1 also
carried the AAF serial 44-41279. It flew for the first time
on July 1944, and was delivered to the Navy eight days later.
